We recognize the critical times that humanity is crossing and are aware of the crucial role that psychologists can play with providing people with the resources needed to facing the complex and multiple challenges of the modern world. In particular we are interested in promoting the role of the mind in health and contribute to making it an integral part of medical education and the discourse on health.
At The Family Institute we believe that traditional and contemporary psychologies, the ongoing research in mind, brain and health are particularly relevant to today’s questions. We take a multi-disciplinary approach and our programs encompass the contributions of the fields of anthropology, education, medicine, evolutionary biology, neuroscience, and ecology, along with the ancient systems of learning and spirituality. The programs are didactic and experiential, always requiring an active participation in the learning process. By developing and disseminating the most effective practices, we aim at training professionals in responding in flexible ways to the multiplicity of challenges of the modern world.
"Pay attention not only to the cultivation of knowledge but to the cultivation of the qualities of the heart, so that at the end of education, not only will you be knowledgeable, but also you will be warm-hearted and compassionate."
- His Holiness, The Dalai Lama
